This is Shorty Jangala Robertson who features in our current exhibition. At Pandanus Gallery our goal is to present high quality Aboriginal art ranging from affordable work from emerging artists to rare collectable pieces from the cream of the Indigenous art movement.

Regions

This is the road from Yuendumu to Papunya and Haasts Bluff. The colour in the image is true! Pandanus gallery exhibits fine Aboriginal art sourced from art centres in Aboriginal communities from the central and western deserts to the saltwater country in the top end of Western Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland.

We are constantly expanding the regions from which we obtain aboriginal artworks in order to give you a huge diversity of high quality and authenticated works from different areas within Australia.

Art of Christmas

We have collected a wonderful range of small, medium and large to collectable works to offer as exquisite Christmas gifts.

There are items of jewellery and sculptures, under $100, small works on canvas, under $200, limited edition prints and medium paintings, under $500 and selected collectable works over $1500.

The exhibition runs through December.

Anna & Paul La Fontaine founded Pandanus Gallery in 2009. Anna has had an extensive career in the arts culminating in an involvement in indigenous art over the past several years. Paul’s business career has spanned many industries including the arts but his love of Aboriginal art and avid interest in the indigenous culture has seen him become a keen student of the vast subject.

We have combined our deep interest and knowledge with a ‘sea change’ to beautiful Palm Cove where the gallery is just across the road from the beach and the Coral Sea.

Our curating policy is to expand strong and transparent relationships with remote Aboriginal art communities and whereever possible to source works for the gallery from Aboriginal owned community art centres throughout Australia. These include:

Our objective is to represent the diversity in Aboriginal styles of art reflecting culture, law and the Dreaming. We have made important steps towards achieving this in some of the listed communities and now aim to extend this to Queensland, especially FNQ.

We individually select works which meet the highest quality in materials, execution and artistic/cultural merit. A small but exciting portion of our gallery stock represents important works from before and including the first two decades of the contemporary art movement at Papunya in the early 1970s.

We carry important works by some of the Top 50 Australian Artists and Telstra Aboriginal Art Awards and highly experienced artists in their twilight years (refer to the Artists tab), and are particularly interested in supporting emerging artists who are inspired to communicate with the world through their fine art.
